DUBAI: Bahrainis living abroad are participating in parliamentary elections on Tuesday. Counselor Nawaf Abdullah Hamza, the Chairman of the Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission, said citizens would be able to vote via 37 diplomatic headquarters abroad, wrote state agency BNA. Polling and counting committees were made available to people from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., according to the local time of the city in which the embassy, consulate or diplomatic mission is located. Hamza said parliamentary elections abroad were a reflection of Bahrain’s keenness to allow citizens outside of the country to exercise their constitutional right. He said all preparations were completed through ongoing coordination with Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to ensure integrity and transparency similar to the electoral system inside the Kingdom.Polling and counting committees abroad are located in embassies, consulates and missions in cities such as Jeddah, Abu Dhabi, Islamabad, Ankara, Paris and Cairo. Meanwhile, elections in Bahrain will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12. The Executive Management of the Elections will be adding results from polls abroad to those received in Bahrain once the process has been completed.
