DUBAI: A Jordanian court has sentenced to death 6 out of 17 defendants involved in a brutal attack that left a teenage boy half blind and amputated, local news agencies reported Wednesday.
The men were suspected of kidnapping and assaulting a 16-year-old boy by gouging his eyes and chopping his hands in the Zarqa province last October. The hideous attack was carried in revenge for a murder committed by one of the boy’s relatives.
On Wednesday, the court began the verdict hearing against 17 defendants, one of whom was absent. The defendants were faced with several charges including terrorism, terrorizing society, indecent assault, criminal kidnapping, causing permanent disability, possession of an unlicensed firearm.
