DUBAI: The United Arab Emirates’ Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, ICA, extended the exemption for visa violators until Dec. 31, state news agency WAM reported.
Individuals who violated UAE’s entry and residency laws before March 1 of this year will be exempted from all fines if they leave the country by the end of 2020, the report added.
“The grace period extension is to enable violators to adjust their status in the country before the end of the year,” WAM quoted Director General of Foreigners Affairs and Ports at ICA Saeed Rakan Al-Rashidi.
The exemption of fines was first introduced on May 14, to account for the international ban on travel as part of countries’ measures to curb the spread of coronavirus.
