UAE’s Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and a large Emirati delegation participate in the activities of COP 27

The President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, will attend the 27th session of the United Nations (UN) climate summit COP27 (Convention on Climate Change), which kicked off in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt on Sunday.

Diplomats from more than 130 countries are set to attend the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework COP27. They are expected to talk about the damage finance facility during the session. World leaders are expected to talk about the issue of climate change.

The annual global climate conference, which is scheduled to run from November 6 to November 18 in Sharm El Sheikh, is set to witness 40,000 estimated attendees.

Under the direction of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE will link the outcomes of COP27 and COP28 to address the issue of climate change and raise awareness about climate action efforts.

The UAE President will lead a high-level delegation at the conference. His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court; His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor for Special Affairs at the Ministry of Presidential Court; Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for National Security; Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, the  Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Managing Director; and Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, the Minister of Climate Change and the Environment are set to accompany Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at COP27.

The country is among the world’s largest humanitarian aid donors. The UA has provided aid to various countries during times of climate-related disasters and conflicts. In September, the UAE announced the establishment of the UAE Independent Climate Change Accelerators (UICCA) to enhance the UAE’s climate action strategies. The UAE is set to host the 28th UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) in 2023.
