US Congress Senators have expressed their support to the UAE’s new leadership as Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan takes charge as the President of the Gulf nation. Furthermore, Senators have extended condolences over the demise of the late UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
From New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez to Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe, US Congressmen hailed the UAE’s strong partnership with Washington and continuous efforts to building the bilateral ties.
“My sincere condolences to the UAE & its citizens on the passing of President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, ruler of Abu Dhabi. Sheikh Khalifa built a legacy of partnership with the US, & we will hold the Emirati people & the Al Nahyan family in our thoughts as they mourn his loss,” the Senator Menendez posted on Twitter.

Senator Jim Risch also highlighted the key role played by Sheikh Khalifa in modernizing the UAE as he extended his heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and the people of Emirates. Senator Inhofe also pointed towards the efforts to ensure that the UAE-US partnership remain strong in the future.
According to analysts, these messages by US senators can be seen as the reflection of the UAE’s robust global leadership in the Middle East and globally. Last week, US President Biden sent a high-powered delegation to the UAE to extend congratulatory wishes to the newly-appointed President Sheikh Mohamed. The solidity of the US delegation also indicated Biden’s endeavours to reinforce diplomatic relations with its crucial Middle Eastern ally amid the ongoing geopolitical changes.
Over the years, the US and US have enjoyed strong and steady relationship with increasing trade, defence and security cooperation. Key institutions of both the countries have been meeting on regular intervals to develop the shared agenda and fulfil relevant commitments for sustainable relationship.
